About

Hello, Iā€™m Melanie.

With a career of over 15 years in the Jewelry Industry, I have extensive experience designing fine, bridge, and costume jewelry. I have a B.F.A. in Metals and Jewelry from The Savannah College of Art and Design and am trained in traditional silver smithing, lapidary, and metalwork. My preferred method of design is through Adobe Illustrator, but I have strong hand drawing and rendering skills, as well as competencies in other computer software programs.

I am well versed in brand identity, mass market retail, private label, as well as the needs of smaller, more specialized retail customers.  I have an intricate understanding of replenishment programs, sales drivers, and best sellers.  This business awareness informs every aspect of how I approach, design, and execute projects.

My career has taken me across the globe ā€“ experience that has afforded me expertise in materials, sourcing, and manufacturing.  This knowledge allows me the flexibility to streamline the design process and work in tight timelines.

I have honed communication skills through years of corresponding across departments, satellite offices, states, and even country lines.  I value feedback and working with others and find great joy in watching team members thrive and grow.  I have strong relationships with factories and understand domestic and international markets.

In 2021, I started my own freelance design and consulting business with the main goal of being able to build strong professional relationships with clients. These relationships are centered around transparency, reliability, and a high standard of design work. When I enter into a contract with any of my clients, they are able to trust that their deadlines will be adhered to, their work flow and requests will be respected, and that I will communicate throughout the process.

I encourage you to check out my LinkedIn profile to learn more about my career path, education, skills, and awards.
